Description
Romantic guitar by Armand Ferry from ~ 1850 – a beautifully crafted and very good sounding guitar.
Armand Hyacinthe Ferry – born in Mirecourt in 1806 and died in Paris in 1870, was an important manufacturer of plucked and stringed instruments.
He was born into a very wealthy family, his father was a lawyer. It is not known where he got his training as an instrument maker, but he soon became self-employed and successfully started his own workshop. Around 1825 he already had a large number of employees (from 15 to 18).
By very high quality he made a good name for himself in the music scene of that time.
This great guitar is very high quality built using the best materials.
Beautiful birdseye maple and a wonderful spruce top was used.
The guitar has very high quality machine heads and the whole construction is noble.
Inside the body you can read A. Ferry – Breveté (patented)
The guitar sounds fantastic and can easily compete with the best instruments from Lacote. It has that magical sound that immediately takes you into another time and place.
A dream guitar that produces the most beautiful timbres. It also has the volume and power one would wish for in such a guitar.
The condition is very good for the age. Slight restorations have been made over the years. The guitar plays easily, with a straight neck and a pleasantly low action.
The nut width is 48 mm and the scale length 633 mm.
It comes with a matching case, which is not as old as the guitar.
