Torres La Leona by Darren Hippner 2021 Classical Guitar – an extremely well-made and true-to-original replica!

Darren Hippner is a fourth-generation carpenter from a family of craftsmen, transitioned his woodworking skills to guitar making, inspired by a local master luthier. Since becoming a full-time luthier in 1994, he has crafted hundreds of guitars, including classical, flamenco, and various custom models using premium tonewoods.
His guitars are renowned worldwide for their quality and craftsmanship. Based in the serene, isolated Point Roberts, Washington, Darren continues to innovate and refine his art, producing exceptional instruments.
One of Darren Hippner’s speciality is to built reproductions of historically important guitars, such as Torres, Hauser, Ramirez & Fleta models.

This beautifully crafted guitar is a replica of the famous La Leona (FE 04) by Antonio de Torres. It has a fine spruce top and a very beautiful back made of birdseye maple – definitelly the most spectacular maple we have seen so far. The sides are also made of the same birdseye maple. The guitar has a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 51 mm. This guitar plays great with a low action (3.7 mm E and 2.8 mm e at the 12th fret) and a straight neck.

Words are not enough to describe the rich and harmonious sound of this excellently built Torres La Leona by Darren Hippner 2021 Classical Guitar. Be it the beauty of individual notes, melodic sequences or the blending of notes in counterpoint or chordal harmony – this fine guitar inspires in all aspects. In addition, there is the unique experience of feeling the resonance of the guitar on your own body while playing, which is possible due to the very light construction of the guitar.
