Description

Richard Herrmann ~1940 – master grade guitar in the style of a Hermann Hauser – Viennese model!

Richard Herrmann (1882-1945) was a guitar maker from Markneukirchen in Saxony, Germany. He learned from August Meinel and subsequently traveled extensively, which allowed him to improve his craftsmanship.
He first worked for Hermann Hauser in Munich for a few years. Then he worked for various masters in Vienna and also for Julius Heinrich Zimmermann in Leipzig.
Finally, he settled in his home town of Markneukirchen, where he made high-quality guitars with fine craftsmanship until the end of his life.

Like Hermann Hauser I, Richard Herrmann built the guitars of the Viennese models to perfection. So this guitar (built around 1940) is a wonderful instrument, with an outstanding sound. It is well made and the choice of materials is excellent.

The guitar has a top made of German spruce, back and sides of flamed maple. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 50 mm. The original shellac polish is in good condition with minor signs of use. Except for small professionally repaired cracks, the guitar is in very good condition.

The sound is loud, powerful and with great dynamics – it has a large and deep body and this creates a sublime, almost majestic sound.
The sound is beautiful, masterful with concert quality. It has a lot of clarity, but at the same time incredible tonal flexibility. It offers the magic that only an old, masterfully built guitar can produce.
The guitar offers a wide range of beautiful timbres in all registers.
