This extraordinary classical guitar, crafted by master luthier Michael Wichmann in 2019, showcases the artistry and expertise honed over a career spanning nearly five decades. Wichmann began building guitars at the age of 25, dedicating his life to perfecting his craft. His journey has taken him across Europe, working in over 20 renowned workshops. A highlight of his career was the early 1980s, when he toured Spain, France, and Portugal with a “Mobile Guitar Workshop,” an innovative approach to sharing his passion. Now based in Hamburg, where he first established his workshop, Wichmann continues to create concert instruments and replicas of historical guitars, each bearing his signature craftsmanship.
This classical guitar, built in the style of Francisco Simplicio’s guitars, is a standout instrument, both visually and sonically. It features back and sides made of rosewood, paired with a top of fine alpine spruce. The scale length is 650 mm, and the nut width is 52 mm, offering excellent playability and comfort. The guitar is in very good condition, with only light playing marks that attest to its use and love over the years.
