The Manuel Contreras N-2 1987 Classical Guitar is a fine example of Spanish lutherie, built by one of the most respected Madrid makers of the 20th century. Combining over three decades of maturity with authentic craftsmanship, this guitar offers expressive tonal beauty and reliable playability. Entirely handmade, it represents Contreras’ vision of creating instruments that balance power, warmth, and elegance – qualities that make it ideal for professional players and collectors seeking a genuine Spanish concert guitar with history and soul.

Manuel Contreras (1928–1994) was a celebrated Madrid luthier, trained as a cabinetmaker before joining the José Ramírez workshop. In 1959 he established his own shop and quickly rose to international recognition. His guitars became known for their balance, projection, and refinement, attracting great artists and cementing his reputation as one of the leading Spanish guitar makers of his time. Even his more traditional models, like the N-2, reflect his commitment to quality, stability, and expressive sound.

This Manuel Contreras N-2 1987 Classical Guitar features a cedar top with rosewood back and sides, producing a warm, full-bodied voice with excellent sustain. The trebles are lyrical and sweet, clear without harshness, while the midrange adds depth and color. The basses are strong, resonant, and well-balanced, supporting the overall tone with richness without overpowering.
