Description
Lowden S-10 1980s Acoustic Guitar – Rare Early Lowden Jumbo with Signature Tone
The Lowden S-10 1980s Acoustic Guitar is a rare and highly collectible instrument, built during one of the most important transitional periods in George Lowden’s history. While the “S” model name today refers to a small-body size, in the early 1980s it stood for Jumbo. Between 1980 and 1985, Lowden guitars were made in Japan by S. Yairi under license. When acoustic guitar demand dropped, George Lowden decided to return production to Ireland, training new craftsmen and starting serial numbers again from “0” with a distinctive oval green-edged label.
This particular S-10, was built in Japan and has a deep Jumbo body. That alone makes it extremely rare and historically significant, while still showcasing all the hallmarks that define the Lowden sound today: wooden binding and purflings, dolphin-pattern bracing, and meticulous handwork.
