Description
Jose Ramirez 1968 Flamenco Guitar – rare guitar by Mariano Tezanos (M.T.) with relation to Paco de Lucia
This impressive guitar has a remarkable history, which is documented in the pictures in the guitar case. It belonged to a German flamenco guitarist who lived in Granada and bought this guitar directly from Ramirez. He was friends with Paco de Lucia and other flamenco greats. Pictures and greeting cards with original signatures (including Paco de Lucia’s) are all included.
There is not much to say about the name Ramirez … this family of luthiers has formed the history of guitar making like no one else.
For more than 100 years they have been producing world-class guitars.
This guitar comes from the so-called golden age of Ramirez. In the 60’s, when Jose Ramirez III revolutionized the body shape and inner construction of the guitar, these wonderful instruments were built.
This Jose Ramirez 1968 flamenco guitar has the great flamenco sound known from the old recordings of the great master Sabicas.
The guitar has a very voluminous sound and offers besides the loud tone an enormous warmth. The basses are absolutely fantastic and come with a pleasant humming. The trebles are clear and distinguished. The guitar unfolds the most beautiful timbres in every single tone and inspires in all areas.
The sound of this guitar is wonderfully versatile, with a complex tone and an enormous range of the most beautiful timbres. On the one hand, the sound is powerful and majestic, but the guitar also impresses with clear, sparkling highs that give a sense of great projection.
This great Jose Ramirez 1968 flamenco guitar plays very easy, with a low action, a straight neck and a perfect setting.
The top is made of cedar and back and sides of cypress. The scale length is 655 mm and the nut width 54 mm.
The builder stamp is M.T. (Mariano Tezanos) – Mariano Tezanos was one of the most prolific builders in the RamÃrez workshop. He was the builder of the famous guitar of Andres Segovia in the same year.
If the guitar could speak, it would certainly be able to tell about many special evenings and the famous guitarrists who played on it.Â
Despite its age this guitar is in surprisingly good condition, but has been played a lot and shows wear of play and use. The fretboard and the frets are newer ones and the bridge has received a 12-hole setup. It plays very nice with a low action (2.7 mm E and 2.2 mm e) and a straight and comfortable neck.
It comes with the original case, the additonal pictures and some personal accessories of the original owner.
