Description
Horst Fietz 1961 Classical Guitar – A Rare and Charming Instrument with Exquisite Sound
This beautiful 1961 classical guitar by Horst Fietz is a fine example of craftsmanship from the renowned Markneukirchen tradition. Horst Fietz was a highly skilled luthier who built a variety of stringed instruments, including guitars and violins. His work is often compared to that of Richard Jacob Weissgerber, one of Germany’s most celebrated guitar makers. One of his signature features is the branding of his name, vertically burned into the back reinforcement at the level of the soundhole, as well as the finely waxed headstock, reminiscent of later Spanish-style Weissgerber guitars.
This particular 1961 guitar has a wonderfully sweet and refined tone, full of warmth and charm. Despite being over 60 years old, it remains in remarkably good condition, with only minor signs of playwear. The lightweight construction makes it highly comfortable to play, and the presence of a zero fret allows for a smooth playing experience near the nut, ensuring an even and low string action.
It has a spruce top and rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 640 mm and the nut width 50 mm. The action is low with 3.6 mm E and 2.9 mm e at the 12th fret. The guitar has been played and enjoyed over the years and it shows heavy signs of play and use (including some professionally repaired cracks).
For those looking for a delicate and beautifully expressive instrument with a unique character and history, this Horst Fietz classical guitar is a true gem.
Includes a hard case for protection.
