Description

Hermanos Conde 1970s negra flamenco guitar – amazing guitar built in Domingo Esteso style with Paco de Lucia Conde sound.

This remarkable Hermanos Conde 1970s negra flamenco guitar is a masterpiece crafted in the workshop of Calle Pozuelo de Alarcón, reflecting the influence and legacy of Domingo Esteso. With its vintage charm and exceptional playability, it is an instrument of historical significance and musical brilliance.

The story of Conde Hermanos is intertwined with the history of flamenco itself. Faustino, Julio, and Mariano Conde began their careers building guitars for the legendary Domingo Esteso, a revered master who guided and mentored them. Following Esteso’s passing, the three brothers gradually established their own identity, first under the label “Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso.” By the 1960s, however, the demand for flamenco guitars alone was insufficient to sustain them—until Paco de Lucía discovered their instruments in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

This collaboration marked a turning point for the Conde brothers. With their powerful basses, singing trebles, and bold flamenco character, the guitars gained immense popularity. Paco de Lucía, one of the most iconic flamenco guitarists in history, became synonymous with Conde guitars, and their instruments soon dominated the flamenco world, as seen in countless recordings and performances from the era.

This Hermanos Conde 1970s negra flamenco guitar stands as a tribute to that golden age of flamenco. Built in the style of Domingo Esteso, it exudes elegance and character. The spruce top delivers exceptional clarity, while the back and sides, made from pear wood—a tonewood favored alongside rosewood by renowned builders such as Conde and Ramirez—add warmth and depth to the tone. With a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 52 mm, it offers comfort and precision for any playing style.

The sound of this Hermanos Conde 1970s negra flamenco guitar is nothing short of mesmerizing. Its powerful, dynamic basses and crystal-clear trebles embody the classic flamenco tone made famous by Paco de Lucía. The vintage quality of the sound, developed over decades, adds an irresistible charm. It is a guitar that delights both the player and the listener, resonating with the fiery passion and elegance of flamenco music.

This guitar is in good condition for its age, with 3, expertly performed crack repairs on the back. It is otherwise entirely original and has been meticulously cared for, retaining its full integrity and tonal brilliance. The neck is straight, the action is perfectly set, and the overall playability is flawless (action at the 12th fret: 2.7 mm E and 2.1 mm e).

It comes with its original case, a fitting companion to this exceptional instrument.

For players and collectors alike, this Hermanos Conde 1970s negra flamenco guitar is a rare opportunity to own a piece of flamenco history—a true gem that embodies the artistry and tradition of the golden era.
