Description

Gibson Southen Jumbo 1965 an iconic model, revered for its warm vintage tone and exceptional playability, making it a favorite among musicians for decades.

Introduced in the 1940s, the Gibson Southern Jumbo has become one of the most sought-after acoustic guitars for both studio and live performances. Legends like Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie have famously played similar models, creating timeless songs. With its distinctive look and sound, the Southern Jumbo remains a symbol of Americana and vintage guitar craftsmanship.

This 1965 Southern Jumbo offers the rich, balanced tone that Gibson is renowned for. The combination of a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides delivers deep bass, clear mids, and sparkling highs.

The playability is superb:

  • Action at the 12th fret: 2.2 mm low E string and 1.6 mm high e – perfect for comfortable playing without unwanted buzzing.
  • Nut width: 43 mm, ideal for both strumming and fingerstyle techniques. This is one of the last guitars, before gibson switched to these ultra thin necks in the 60’s
  • Bone saddle: the saddle of the bridge was professionally swaped with a bone piece, which gives this great guitar much more clarity and power.

The mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard offers a smooth transition between frets and an authentic playing experience. The original plastic inlays and classic sunburst finish enhance the guitar’s timeless appearance.

This guitar is in good vintage condition, showing 3 repairs on the top (professionally done) and only minimal signs of use. All components (save the saddle of the bridge) are original. It comes with a newer hard case, which is in good condition.

The Gibson Southern Jumbo 1965 is the perfect choice for collectors and musicians seeking an authentic vintage sound while valuing originality and craftsmanship.
