Gibson LG-2 1951 Acoustic Guitar – A Vintage Masterpiece with an Unforgettable Tone

This Gibson LG-2 1951 acoustic guitar is an authentic vintage treasure—a guitar that has been cherished and played, offering a tone that truly resonates. It features a rich harmonic depth and a remarkable resonance, paired with an unmistakable vintage charm, embodying everything we love about a well-aged acoustic guitar. Its sound is beautifully “opened up,” exuding warmth and clarity, making it a delight to play.

Constructed with a great spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this guitar showcases a stunning, naturally aged sunburst finish. The mahogany neck is complemented by a smooth rosewood fingerboard, which pairs perfectly with the rosewood bridge. Each aspect of its build contributes to its exceptional tonal balance and dynamic response.

This Gibson LG-2 1951 acoustic guitar is in great vintage condition, showcasing the sincere wear that only decades of dedicated playing can impart. While it has some expertly repaired cracks (one around the pick guard and one at the sides), it remains in superb shape overall. All parts are original and this Gibson LG-2 1951 acoustic guitar plays extremly well with a low action (2.4 mm E and 1.7 mm e at the 12th fret) and a straight neck. The frets are in great shape – making it an easy and enjoyable instrument to play.

In terms of tone, this is one of the most expressive and mature mahogany-bodied guitars we’ve encountered. It boasts a deep, resonant voice with incredible power and articulation. The aged woods and expert craftsmanship produce a sound that is hauntingly beautiful and beyond words.

The Factory Order Number (FON) inside has slightly faded and we could read 7556 19 which confirms its production year as 1951.
