Description

Gibson J-45 1948 Acoustic Guitar – a cool Roundshoulder Vintage Dreadnought. A fabulous player with a great vintage sound!

The Gibson J-45, introduced in 1942, quickly earned its reputation as one of the most iconic acoustic guitars of all time. Played by music legends like James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, and Buddy Holly, this model has become synonymous with timeless songs and legendary performances. Known for its warm, resonant tone and elegant design, the J-45 remains a cornerstone in the world of acoustic guitars.

This 1948 Gibson J-45 embodies the classic tone that has made this model a favorite for decades: warm, rich, and versatile. Its solid spruce top delivers exceptional clarity and dynamic range, while the mahogany back and sides provide a perfectly balanced sound with deep bass, smooth mids, and sparkling highs.

  • Action at the 12th fret: 2.4 mm (low E string) and 1.9 mm (high e string), offering a comfortable and effortless playing experience.
  • Nut width: 43 mm, ideal for both strumming and intricate fingerpicking.
  • Bridge: The original bridge has been replaced. The new bridge is true to the original, with a bone saddle bridge, enhancing clarity, sustain, and volume.
  • Neck: The neck is crafted from mahogany and paired with a rosewood fingerboard, ensuring a smooth, natural feel.
  • Finish: The iconic sunburst finish, complemented by pearloid dot inlays and the minimalist Gibson headstock design, perfectly showcases the understated beauty of the J-45.

This 1948 J-45 is in great vintage condition, with some honest wear that reflects its long musical journey. Some professionally repaired cracks on the top and one on the sides have no impact on its structural integrity or tone. The guitar retains its original components (apart from the bridge) and comes with a high-quality newer guitar case to ensure its protection.
This guitar can be dated to 1948 (serial number is missing) with the information we got from the previous owner and acording to the specs of the guitar.

The Gibson J-45 1948 is a remarkable and rare vintage find, offering musicians and collectors alike an incredible combination of legendary tone, exceptional craftsmanship, and historic value.
