Felipe Conde 2022 Reed. “Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso 1974” nº17 50º ANNIVERSARY

This flamenco guitar has been crafted by master luthier Felipe Conde in his workshop on Arrieta Street in 2022. Felipe Conde is today’s leading representative of one of the most prestigious guitar-making dynasties in Spanish history: Hermanos Conde. When we speak of Hermanos Conde, it is impossible not to think of Paco de Lucía and his legendary guitars from this workshop, as well as other great flamenco artists such as Pepe Habichuela, Moraito Chico, and Cepero. Their music, filled with genius and inspiration, was deeply intertwined with the unique sound of these instruments, which played an essential role in their creative process. The secret behind Hermanos Conde guitars lies in their unmistakable sound—different from any other—which became the signature tone of countless musicians.

We are proud to present this extraordinary flamenco guitar, a faithful reedition of one of Paco de Lucía’s own instruments. This guitar holds a special place in our hearts. It is rare to find guitars from this iconic Madrid workshop with such a remarkable combination of tonewoods: a cedar top paired with Brazilian rosewood back and sides, complete with the corresponding CITES certification. This represents the only modification from the original 1974 guitar, which was made with Indian rosewood. The use of Brazilian rosewood elevates this instrument to an entirely new level, making it a future collector’s piece and a true cult instrument. The scale length is 664 mm and the nut width 52 mm.

Felipe Conde built this guitar using the exact same template and mould that was used for the original in 1974. In fact, he acquired the mould after the passing of his aunt Juliana, widow of Faustino Conde. This limited-edition model was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Felipe Conde’s career as a luthier. Only 25 of these guitars will be made, each an exact replica of the original instrument. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this masterpiece has been brought to life by Felipe Conde’s expert hands, earning the name “Concierto Serie Oro” (Concert Golden Series).

Like the finest instruments before it, this guitar represents the pinnacle of new guitar-making in terms of craftsmanship, tonal quality, and performance. The use of Brazilian rosewood—cured for over 70 years—combined with sequoia wood from a tree over a thousand years old, results in an instrument of unparalleled beauty and sonic depth. The power, clarity, and expansive tonal range of this guitar are enhanced by the timeless character that has defined Hermanos Conde instruments for generations. Whether played by professionals or passionate enthusiasts, this guitar continues the legacy of excellence that has captivated musicians since the birth of the firm.

Equipped with Scheller tuners, an exact replica of the pegbox found on Antonio de Torres’ legendary 1884 guitar “La Invencible,” this instrument pays homage to some of the greatest guitars in history. It is delivered with a Cibelles case and a signed certificate from Felipe Conde (including Cites paperwork), ensuring its authenticity and prestige.

This guitar is from 2022 and in excellent condition – like new. We have a sound sample and can send it on request.
