Description
Daniel Friederich 1962 Classical Guitar – fine and extremly good sounding guitar by one of the most famous luthiers of all time
Daniel Friederich is known for his unsurpassed aesthetic as well as his beautiful and magisterial quality of tone. Many of the best players in the world play or have played Friederich, including the Romeros, Manuel Barrueco, Julian Bream, Scott Tennant, Roberto Aussel, Eduardo Fernandez, Alvaro Pierri, David Tanenbaum and many others.
This is an exquisite spruce Friederich guitar from 1962. There is no date on the label, which was usual for Friederichs guitar at that time. It has a fine spruce top and rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 660 mm and the nut witdth 52 mm. It plays incredibly well with a low action (3.6 mm E and 2.9 mm e at the 12th fret) and a straight neck.
The tone of this Daniel Friederich 1962 classical guitar is simply out of this world – rich and silky, smooth and full, marrying together the best qualities of the mid-century spruce guitar with Friederich’s unique sound. Separation between notes is clear and incredibly balanced, across the entire range. Â The deep rounded basses unite perfectly with the overtones-rich trebles and the sound has a great maturity and openness. The complexity of the timbre, the richness of the colours and the clarity of the tone make this Friederich an incredibly poetic and seductive instrument.
The condition is difficult to describe … the guitar has been very professionally restored by Michael Sander. He has invested many hours of work to present the guitar in perfect condition.
Some cracks on the sides, top and back were repaired and the guitar neck was realigned.
The guitar definitely sounds and plays first class and the repairs are solidly done. The price reflects these restorations and the instrument costs a third of what it would otherwise cost.
