Built in the renowned Atocha workshop, this instrument captures the essence of the legendary old Conde guitars, delivering the unmistakable explosive sound that has defined flamenco music for generations.
A particularly special feature of this guitar is its provenance—it comes from the personal collection of Nikos Tsiachris, a highly respected flamenco guitarist. Nikos personally selected this instrument for its outstanding tone, and to highlight its excellence, we have included (on our website) a recording he made with it, along with a certificate of authenticity confirming his ownership.
Conde Hermanos is far more than just a name in guitar making—they are true architects of flamenco history. The three brothers Faustino, Julio, and Mariano Conde learned their craft under the guidance of the great Domingo Esteso, one of the most revered luthiers of his time. Following Esteso’s passing, the brothers gradually developed their own distinctive style, initially building under the Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso label. However, making a living from flamenco guitars in the early 1960s was not easy.
Everything changed when the young Paco de LucÃa discovered Conde at the end of the 1960s. Before that, he had primarily played RamÃrez guitars, but once he embraced Conde, they became his unmistakable signature sound. Conde guitars of this era were a revolution—offering deep, resonant basses and lyrical, singing trebles. From then on, Paco was almost exclusively seen performing with Conde guitars, inspiring an entire generation of flamenco guitarists. In TV recordings from the 1970s, nearly every young guitarist can be seen playing a Conde—a testament to their legendary status.
The man credited with shaping these iconic instruments was Faustino Conde, whose craftsmanship forever changed flamenco guitar making. Today, this legacy lives on, and the magic of Conde guitars remains as strong as ever.
