Carlos Juan Busquiel 2020 – great classical guitar, made in Torres style similar to the guitars of José Luis Romanillos
This exceptional classical guitar, crafted in 2020 by Carlos Juan Busquiel, draws heavily from the legendary designs of Antonio de Torres and the refined principles of José Luis Romanillos. The result is an instrument that captures the essence of traditional Spanish guitar-making with remarkable artistry and sound.
Carlos Juan Busquiel began his musical journey at the age of 12 as a guitarist, although his formal training was in violin. His interest in luthiery sparked when he self-taught himself to build an electric violin for personal use. This initial foray into instrument making paved the way for his passion for craftsmanship. His first acoustic violin, based on the “Kruse” Stradivari model, deepened his understanding of the craft.
In Cádiz, he met master guitar maker Rafael López Porras, who became his mentor and instilled in him a love for constructing Spanish guitars. Carlos further honed his skills under the guidance of legendary luthiers José Luis Romanillos and Jaume Bosser. Meeting Romanillos was a pivotal moment for Carlos, allowing him to grasp the traditional construction features of the Spanish guitar and the legacy of Antonio de Torres. Romanillos later guided him through building a Torres replica, which profoundly influenced Carlos’s work.
