Description

Arcángel Fernández 1964 Flamenco Guitar – precious guitar with enormous sound quality and in great condition!

This exceptional flamenco guitar was crafted in 1964 by the renowned master luthier Arcángel Fernández, who is celebrated as one of the greatest guitar makers in history. His instruments are extremely rare, as many have been acquired by collectors from Japan. Worldwide, his guitars are admired by fellow luthiers, collectors, and musicians alike.

Born in 1932, Fernández began his career as a carpenter. In 1954, he met the legendary guitar maker Marcelo Barbero, who was regarded as the best guitar maker in Madrid at the time and had collaborated with Santos Hernández. Both Barbero and Fernández are iconic figures in the world of guitar making, and Fernández is often considered the father of the modern flamenco guitar, having significantly influenced its development.

Fernández co-founded a workshop with Manuel Rodríguez, where they also sold instruments made by other talented luthiers. In 1959, Marcelo Barbero’s son joined him, and they worked together for over 40 years.

Word of Fernández’s exceptional skills spread rapidly, establishing him as one of the premier guitar makers in the world. Later in his career, he was producing an average of eight guitars per year but eventually had to stop taking orders due to an overwhelming waitlist. Today, his beautiful creations are revered, and he is held in high esteem for his contributions to the field of musical instrument making.

This guitar is constructed from the highest quality woods available. The spruce top features a straight and even grain, while the back and sides are crafted from premium cypress. With a scale length of 657 mm and a nut width of 51 mm, it represents an exquisite blend of aesthetics and acoustics. The action at the 12th fret is 2.8 mm E and 2.3 mm e and this guitar plays absolutely fantastic.

The sound of this guitar is nothing short of spectacular, offering powerful quality and great resonance. It boasts a fullness in the bass notes, along with surprising clarity and melody in the treble. The volume and personality of this guitar elevate it to the elite category of flamenco instruments.

This Arcángel Fernández 1964 Flamenco Guitar is in very good condition. It was ordered by a professional musician directly from Arcángel Fernández and has been treated with great care. Approximately 10 years ago, the French polish was professionally refreshed, ensuring its elegance. Both playability and condition are of the highest standard.

It comes with the original guitar case, providing added protection and style. Immerse yourself in the world of flamenco with this exquisite Arcángel Fernández 1964 Flamenco Guitar!
