What a great guitar … this is an original Martin 00-17 from 1958 (serial number 149860). Completely made of wonderful mahogany.
These kind of vintage Martin guitars are famous among steel string guitars. At that time Martin guitars were still built in limited numbers. For each instrument selected high-quality materials were used.
This guitar sounds so wonderfully bluesy and would be a wonderful instrument for a Jazz/Blues guitarist. The sound is very sweet and warm sound, with the shine of a parlor guitar without losing the warmth. Very immediate response, tight projection but without being overly trebly.
In addition to all that it has a nice vintage character to the sound!
The condition of this guitar is really good … a Martin-authorized warranty repairman, closely examined this guitar and performed the following repairs:
– back cracks glued & cleated
– General set up and adjust for .012-.053 phosphor bronze strings. Includes clean frets, clean and oil fretboard, replace missing tuning machine grommets, adjust action at nut, restring.
– Complete structural inspection – all else deemed in fine and stable condition, including original tuners.
The guitar has a small patch in the lower bout, from a former installed pickup system which has been removed.
A neck reset was done and the action is perfect. The neck is straight and the frets are in good condition.
It comes with a newer hard case!
