Description
Jose Ramirez 1a 1966 “P.C.” – a great guitar and truly a piece of guitar history.
A rarity from the Ramirez Shop. For over half a century Ramirez has produced instruments performed on by countless professionals from Sting to Segovia, Chet Atkins to Sabicas and Lee Ritenour to Christopher Parkening.
The classical guitars of José Ramirez from the 60’s are world famous. In these years guitar history was written in the Ramirez Shop and the modern classical guitar was developed in its today’s form.
The guitar is stamped internally with the builder’s initials, “P.C.” (Pedro Contreras) – one of the most experienced luthiers in the Ramirez shop at that time.
It is very easy to play, with a lovely neck and easy action. The scale length is 664 mm and the nut width 54 mm. It has a cedar top and rosewood back and sides.
This great guitar has the fullness, robustness and depth of sound that Ramirez is known for in their best instruments. The tone is thick yet clear, and has that essential warm, mysterious and moody quality. The sound comes with controlled and balanced layers of overtones stacked on the crystal-clear fundamental. It has an almost cathedral-like presence, which gives it plenty of power for any concert hall – it has a thundering presence and is a true “concert grand” of a guitar.
These instruments are among the most prized among collectors, but they have been and continue to be played by top concert artists worldwide. For both sound, and collectability, this is an extremely desirable example of a Ramirez guitar.
This guitar is in great condition for its age – there are some repaired cracks on it. It has some wear of play and use too.
It comes with the original case.
An excellent example of a fine Ramirez for either collector or concert player.
