Torres Guitar of the “Berliner Werkstätten” produced in cooperation with Francisco Simplicio, Domingo Esteso, Santos Hernandez … – a truly outstanding guitar!
Since 1925, the Berlin workshops “Die Gitarre” had the exclusive distribution in Germany of guitars by the great Spanish master guitar makers Francisco Simplicio, Domingo Esteso, Santos Hernandez …
At the end of the 20’s, this cooperation resulted in an extremely interesting project. Torres guitars were copied in Barcelona and Madrid. For this purpose, the contacts to the high-class Spanish guitar builders were used.
The body of each guitar was built in Spain, the neck and bridge were later built in Germany by master guitar builders there.
The result is impressive as you can see on this guitar. An outstandingly successful Torres replica with a large body in concert-quality!
The guitar has a fine spruce top and rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 51 mm.
The body has a good rib depth of 95 mm (upper bout) to 100 mm (lower bout) and a generous body size of 280 mm (upper bout) and 365 mm (lower bout).
This makes these guitars the same size as Enrique Garcia’s or Francisco Simplicio’s largest concert-level master guitars.
The sound is really very impressive and has great depth in every note across the register with great bass and lyrical highs. The guitar is incredibly assertive and can easily stand its ground in a large concert hall.
But it is also very lively and has a “friendly” tone with great charm and personality. A truly outstanding master guitar.
Such a guitar in this condition with this sound quality is hard to come by, so we are proud to present this very rare and collectible instrument.
The guitar has been professionally restored and is in good and very playable condition. It comes with a newer case.
We have linked a detailed report from the time (in German) below. It is also amazing how many famous guitarists of the time played these guitars.
