Leon Victor Mougenot 1900 Romantic Guitar – outstanding romantic guitar with fine sound and fantastic decorations!
Leon Victor Mougenot first learned instrument making under Emile Laurent and later apprenticed with his father’s cousin Georges in Brussels from 1887 to 1894. Mougenot returned to France, working in Lyon and Paris and later at the London firm of W.E. Hill & Sons.
In 1899 he finally returned to his hometown of Mirecourt, where he set up his own shop. He won the gold medal at the 1909 Nancy international exhibition.
All along his professional life he has trained more than 75 apprentices or collaborators among whom :BISH Paul, BISIACH Carlo and Leandro, CROLET PaulDUPUY Philippe , ENEL Charles, ENEL Pierre, JACQUEMIN René, JOMBAR Louis et Jean-Paul, MILLANT Max , RAGOT Lucien, SCHMITT Lucien, (1910-1912), STRIEBIG Jean, VATELOT Marcel, VILLAUME Gustave.
This Leon Victor Mougenot 1900 Romantic Guitar is particularly remarkable for its elaborate inlayworks, its fine construction and its nice materials. Even the fretboard has mother of pearl inlays all over, which makes this nice instrument a piece of art and highly decorative. The woods are of first class and the construction of this guitar is of the highest standarts. One can really only speak in superlative terms about this guitar.
The scale length is 630 mm and the nut width 46 mm. It has a spruce top and rosewood back and sides.

The condition of the guitar is very good and it has been expertly restored by Paul Janssen. It can be dated around 1900. It plays very easily with a straight neck and low action.
