Description
Hopf La Portentosa 2004 – an exceptional concert guitar, offering outstanding craftsmanship, tonal brilliance, and effortless playability.
Dieter Hopf is one of Germany’s most renowned luthiers, carrying on a family tradition of guitar making that dates back to 1669. His La Portentosa model is a true masterpiece, celebrated for its balance, projection, and dynamic range. Hopf guitars have been played by world-class musicians, including Pepe Romero and Sonny Black, who appreciate their rich sound and precision.
This 2004 La Portentosa features a finely aged cedar top, delivering incredible clarity, warmth and resonance. The back and sides are crafted from high-quality rosewood, enhancing volume and depth. The guitar’s ebony fingerboard ensures smooth playability, while the Spanish cedar neck contributes to its lightweight feel and responsiveness. With a nut width of 52mm, a scale length of 650mm, and a string action of 3.7 mm E and 2.8 mm e at the 12th fret, it offers a comfortable playing experience for both classical and flamenco guitarists.
The sound of the guitar is extremely powerful and room-filling. It requires little effort from the player to produce this powerful sound. The powerful trebles respond very quickly and project well, while the deep basses resonate throughout the guitar, making playing this guitar a real experience.
The guitar produces a tone that is both room-filling and warm, characterised by a dark timbre and excellent separation of the individual notes. The balance between bass and treble is even throughout, making this wonderful guitar a versatile instrument, suitable for a wide range of musical styles and techniques.
This is an extremely impressive example of Hopf at its best.
The instrument is in excellent condition, with only some minor signs of use. It remains completely original, including its high-quality tuning machines and elegant French polish finish. The guitar comes with its original hard case for optimal protection.
A perfect choice for demanding musicians and collectors seeking a high-end concert guitar with unparalleled sound and craftsmanship.
