Benito Ferrer 1919 Classical Guitar – A Historical Gem with Exceptional Sound Quality

The Benito Ferrer 1919 Classical Guitar stands as a testament to the remarkable craftsmanship of Benito Ferrer, often hailed as the father of the renowned Granada school of guitar making. This illustrious lineage includes iconic luthiers such as Manuel de la Chica and Antonio Marin Montero. Constructed in the classic Torres style, Ferrer’s guitars are celebrated for their superior sound quality, with some even bearing authentic Torres labels, as noted by luthier Richard Bruné.

A Ferrer guitar was famously gifted to the young Andres Segovia, who cherished it for many years. Additionally, a 1906 Ferrer guitar inspired Manuel De Falla during the composition of his exquisite “Homenaje.”

This particular Benito Ferrer 1919 Classical Guitar is in good condition for its age, with repaired cracks ensuring it’s 100% ready for play. Outfitted with Wittner fine-tuning pegs, tuning this guitar is a breeze, allowing for precise adjustments and optimal sound.

Visually and sonically, this guitar is a masterpiece. Over a century has allowed the woods to mature beautifully, resulting in a vintage sound that is both rich and dynamic. The response is immediate, offering a wide dynamic range and an elegant tonal palette. With a scale length of 640 mm and a nut width of 48 mm, this guitar features a spruce top paired with cypress back and sides. It is expertly adjusted for ease of play, boasting a straight neck and low action (3 mm E and 2.4 mm e at the 12th fret), ensuring a comfortable playing experience.
