Description

Benito Ferrer 1909 – valuable and historically important guitar from the founder of the Granada school, with an incredible sound!

Benito Ferrer (1845-1925) is considered the father and founder of the famous Granada school of guitar making, which is now represented by Manuel de la Chica, Antonio Marin Montero and many others famous luthiers.
Built in the classic Torres style, Ferrer’s guitars have appeared on the market, according to Luthier Richard Bruné, partly with authentic Torres labels. This is a clear proof of the sound quality of Ferrer’s instruments, made in a very traditional way.
A Ferrer guitar was given to the young Andres Segovia who played it for many years. It was also a 1906 Ferrer guitar used by Manuel De Falla while composing his beautiful Homenaje.

This guitar is an amazingly well preserved instrument for its age. It still has the original finish. Some cracks have been  repaired and the guitar is 100% ready to play.

You can already imagine the unbelievable sound of this guitar just by looking at it.
The woods have of course wonderfully matured after more than 100 years and produce an incredibly beautiful vintage sound. The guitar reacts immediately and has a great dynamic.
It is a very elegant example of Ferrers best instruments. The tone is truly gorgeous – rich and silky, smooth and full, marrying together the best qualities of a spruce-top guitar with the unique sound of Granadas greatest guitars. The separation between notes is clear and incredibly balanced, across the entire range.
The guitar is completely comparable with the best you know from Torres.

The guitar has a scale of 650 mm and a nut width of 50 mm. It has a spruce top and cypress back and sides.
It is perfectly adjusted and plays very easily with a straight neck and a low action.

The guitar comes with a suitable case.
