Description
Antonio Ortiz Romero 1970s flamenco guitar – stunning handmade guitar with relation to Antonio de Torres!
The Ortiz family has been making musical instruments for over a century. Frasquito Ortiz built his first guitar as an apprentice together with the great master Antonio De Torres. When the master died in 1892, he continued the work independently. Since then, the craft has been passed down from generation to generation.
Francisco Ortiz García continued the craft, but was forced by the Spanish Civil War to emigrate to Argentina with his wife Encarnación Romero Carmona and his three sons, Francisco, Antonio and José, to continue the craft there. Francisco Ortiz García taught all his sons the craft and he also taught the next generation, Francisco Manuel José Antonio Ortiz Guisado.
The Ortiz family has made instruments for thousands of musicians, including many renowned guitarists such as Sabicas, Niño Ricardo, Pepe Marchena, Andrés Segovia, Esteban De Sanlúcar, Narciso Yepes, Eduardo Falú, Carlos Di Fulvio, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Tito Francia and many more.
