Stauffer style romantic guitar ~1820 - This rare, antique guitar from around 1820 is a real gem, built in the style of a Viennese Stauffer guitar.

Its characteristic features, such as the smaller sound hole, which is positioned slightly further down the body, as well as the overall construction, clearly place it in the early Romantic period. After consultation with various experts, the year of construction is estimated to be around 1820.

As was often the case at this time, the guitar bears no maker's mark. Due to the high-quality workmanship and the materials used, it could come from the Vienna region, southern Germany or the Markneukirchen area. The instrument was made with exceptional care and was obviously intended for professional use.

The simple elegance of the guitar is impressive. There are no elaborate decorations, but every detail is a testament to masterful craftsmanship. The flamed maple used for the back and sides is of the highest quality and harmonizes wonderfully with the finely grained spruce top. The tuners are excellently crafted and of exceptional quality. The headstock, which was clearly inspired by Stauffer guitars, is particularly striking.

The guitar has been expertly restored by Paul Janssen and plays extremely comfortably and easily with a low action.

Its sound is enchanting - sweet, full of character and with a special expressiveness. The guitar radiates a lively, charming personality and immediately creates a close connection with the player. The aged wood and fine construction create beautiful timbres and a fascinating tone. At the same time, it offers the volume and sustain you would expect from an instrument of this class.
