Richard Herrmann ~1940 - Master guitar in the style of a Hermann Hauser - Viennese model!
Richard Herrmann (1882-1945) was a guitar maker from Markneukirchen in Saxony (Germany). He studied under August Meinel and then traveled extensively, which enabled him to improve his craftsmanship.
He initially worked for Hermann Hauser in Munich for several years. He then worked for various masters in Vienna and also for Julius Heinrich Zimmermann in Leipzig.
He eventually settled in his home town of Markneukirchen, where he continued to produce high-quality guitars by hand until the end of his life.
Like Hermann Hauser I, Richard Herrmann built the guitars of the Viennese models to perfection. This guitar (built around 1940) is also a wonderful instrument with an outstanding sound. It is well crafted and the choice of materials is excellent.
The guitar has a German spruce top and flamed maple back and sides. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 50 mm. The original shellac finish is in good condition with minor signs of use. Apart from small professionally repaired cracks, the guitar is in very good condition.
The sound is loud, powerful and with great dynamics - it has a large and deep body and this creates a sublime, almost majestic sound.
The sound is beautiful, masterful with concert quality. It has a lot of clarity, but at the same time an incredible tonal flexibility. It offers the magic that only an old, masterfully built guitar can produce.
The guitar offers a wide range of beautiful timbres in all registers.
