This Martin D-28 1951 is a sensation. A dream for all players - it sounds like a real dream guitar, with lots of vintage character!
Since its introduction in 1931, the C F Martin D-28 has been a successful, reliable model used by countless guitarists for performances and recordings.
The C F Martin D-28 serves as a basic body design template for other dreadnought guitars. It has a spruce top with rosewood for the back, sides and headstock. Mahogany for the neck and ebony for the fingerboard and bridge.
This magnificent specimen is a post-war guitar with the corresponding construction details. Pre-war guitars have a herringbone binding around the top and post-war guitars have a purfling binding instead.
It is an absolute pleasure to play a guitar like this. The tone is powerful and full of the typical warmth of rosewood, while the spruce top provides brilliance and clarity even when played hard. The guitar has an incredibly good resonance and great dynamics. It fills the room with full and beautiful tones like no other guitar. The sound has an inimitable and pleasantly woody character.
This Martin D-28 1951 plays well and is completely ready to play! It plays well with a very low action and has had a neck reset. The bridge has been reglued and some cracks repaired - all to bring the guitar to a condition that makes it 100% ready to play and perfectly set up. The intonation is also very good.
The pickguard is a newer one.
An old and probably original case comes with the guitar.
