Martin D-28 1941 „Pre-War“ - a dream guitar and a wonderful piece of history - very balanced and with a warm and clear vintage tone!
It has all the coveted pre-war features: scalloped bracing, herringbone binding, snow flake fingerboard inlays ... the „holy grail“ of acoustic guitars, to say the least!
We are proud to have landed this beautiful Martin D-28 from 1941. Rosewood of a quality that would make a builder weep today, a yellowed to perfection Adirondack spruce top and honest playing traces that prove that this D-28 has not wasted the decades under the bed. The neck is comfortable and very easy to play.
What can we say about the sound? ... this really is the Holy Grail. We have rarely heard anything comparable. Big, open, very proud ... just incredibly good sounding. These guitars are also legendary for their dynamics, projection and sustain. This guitar is a prime example of that.
It is in excellent condition for its age. This guitar was refinished in the 60s. It also received a new bridge - the bridge plate is original. Some parts of the binding have been reglued. The guitar has had a neck reset and a refret.
Our luthier did the final setup - the guitar plays like butter!
It comes with the original guitar case.
