In this period just after the war, Martin built wonderful guitars - which are highly sought after today. It was an era when guitars were built without any commercial consideration ... they were lightly built and the finest First Growth tonewoods were used. Built entirely by hand, in every way. Beautiful mahogany sides and back and an Adirondack top - make this guitar a cannon.
This Martin 000-18 1947 is an old workhorse. It has cracks and repairs all around. It's a guitar that's been played and used... and over the years it's turned into a very cool looking vintage guitar. When we look at it, we can imagine all the songs that have been played on it, all the previous owners who loved it and the different life situations the guitar has been through.
It has recently been very professionally restored and is rock solid and ready for the next stage.
Most importantly, it's one of the most articulate, mature mahogany guitars we've ever owned - simply stunning. It's as light as a feather and responds to the slightest touch. The sound is rich and deep. The overall construction and the mature woods create this highly immersive sound that you can't begin to describe.
This is one of those guitars that you just have to play and then you won't want to put it down.
