This beautiful Martin 000-18 from 1944 is a real dream guitar - very balanced and with a warm and clear vintage voice!

Among the unmissable creations of the long-established manufacturer from Nazareth, few guitars have been as revered and replicated as the 000 models. The 000 shape with fourteen frets outside the body, with its very pronounced size and intriguing curves, has become the standard alternative for guitarists who do not opt for the dreadnought. Its smaller size makes it a much more comfortable guitar for players who are not as tall as a cowboy and its tonal structure is less emphasized in the basses, resulting in a more balanced sound. Since its creation, it has continued to inspire other guitar makers and set the standard for the all-purpose guitar, from Paul Simon's fingerpicking to Eric Clapton's blues.
The pre-war models are of course the most valuable examples ... and this guitar is a real player from this era. These guitars from the period shortly before and during the Second World War are very popular with collectors.
These guitars combine the best materials, sound-optimized construction and meticulous craftsmanship to create unique dream instruments. The number of guitars built by Martin was very small at the time, so that only very few „Pre War“ Martins are still for sale today.
Apart from a neck reset and signs of wear and tear - which simply proves that this 000-18 has been played a lot - it still has almost all of its original components.
The bridge has been professionally replaced and there are some professional repairs all around. The pickguard is a newer one. The rest of the quirks you see in the pictures are just heavy play wear.
This guitar is a very good example of the timeless quality of Martin-built instruments. It has a warm and clear voice, a strong fundamental presence, an amazingly even string balance and the classic Martin focus. It's a wonderful fingerstyle guitar and a great choice for the recording studio.
It comes with a Gryphon fiberglass case „made in Canada“ - very similar to a Calton case.
