Manuel Contreras 1a 1988 - an impressive classical guitar from one of the best luthiers of all time - a true revelation with a stunning sound!
Manuel Contreras was born in Madrid in 1926 and joined the Ramirez workshop as a master luthier in 1959. It was Contreras who built the first José Ramirez guitar, which Andrés Segovia bought in 1960. After three years with Ramirez, Manuel opened his own guitar workshop in the center of Madrid. He soon gained a reputation as one of the best and most innovative guitar makers in Spain.
His greatest success in this sense was the design of the „Double Top“ model, which Contreras presented in 1974 after a series of experiments to improve sound, volume and projection. This model was immediately very well received in the world of professional guitarists.
This fantastic classical guitar was built in 1988 by Manuel Contreras Senior. It is a traditionally built Spanish classical guitar.
This guitar is very light and lively, great fun to play and the sound is pure and clear. It is focused and snappy with an immediate response, although it is very expressive.
The string action and adjustment are quick and easy. As usual with Contreras, the quality of the materials is first class.
The condition is very good for its age - it shows only minor signs of play and use and has three very small repaired cracks in the lower part of the base.
A great vintage concert guitar at a very affordable price that comes with the original case.
