Lorenzo Alvarez 1982 Flamenco guitar - impressive sounding guitar in the style of Santos Hernandez and Marcello Barbero

This guitar is very special as it is made in exactly the same style as the Arcangel Fernandez guitars (Lorenzo and his brother Juan had a close relationship with Arcangel Fernandez) that we had in our store. They sound almost identical. It is also very similar to Eric Clapton's famous Alvarez guitar.

Lorenzo Alvarez is a guitar maker of the highest quality. He began building guitars in the 1940s together with his older brother Juan. Later, the Alvarez brothers became friends with Marcelo Barbero (1904-1956), one of the great guitar makers of the last century. He became their mentor, giving them valuable advice and support from which they benefited enormously. Together with Marcelo Barbero, they also had the opportunity to get to know the guitars of the great Santos Hernandez, as Marcelo Barbero worked for Santos Hernandez's widow for some time after his death.

Lorenzo Alvarez founded his own workshop, where he worked until shortly before his death and also trained other guitar makers. Many professional guitarists played and still play Alvarez guitars. His guitars follow the tradition of Santos Hernandez and Marcelo Barbero. Eric Clapton played an Alvarez guitar and recorded „Tears in Heaven“ with it. He also played his Alvarez guitar at his famous MTV Unplugged concert in 1992. This guitar was sold at auction in 2004 for 253,900 $.

This Lorenzo Alvarez 1982 Flamenco guitar has a beautiful spruce top, complemented by cypress back and sides. With a scale length of 655 mm and a nut width of 52 mm, it is designed for both comfort and good playability.

The sound of this instrument is truly captivating and offers a warm, vintage sound full of character. The trebles are clear and brilliant, while the basses offer a powerful, dark and warm quality. The guitar produces an impressive volume and plays with incredible ease, making it an absolute joy to play.

This guitar has considerable collector's value and is very suitable for both live performances and studio recordings. It is one of the best flamenco guitars we have ever seen.

In terms of condition, the guitar is in fantastic shape, with only minor signs of play and use. The neck is straight and the action is Flamenco low with 2.8 mm E and 2.2 mm e at the 12th fret.

It comes with a protective hard case.
