Jose Ramirez 1959 - a great sounding classical guitar built in the workshop of José Ramirez. It has the great old Ramirez sound ... an impressive guitar and a piece of history!
The Ramirez family is the most famous dynasty in the guitar world. The story began around 1870, when José Ramirez I completed his training with Francisco González and opened his own workshop. José Ramirez II (1885-1957) continued to build guitars following his father's example.
Many of the greatest guitarists, both in classical music and flamenco, have played Ramirez instruments.
This guitar has a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 51 mm. It is in original condition and very well preserved for its age.
We haven't seen many of these old guitars that play so well, with a low action and a straight neck.
The sound is absolutely impressive. We did a little listening test and compared this guitar in the same room with some more modern Spanish guitars. We were very surprised when we played it for the first time because it was on par with any of these modern guitars in terms of volume and projection and much more interesting to listen to in terms of color and nuance.
The guitar has a great richness and harmonic quality. The tones blend together wonderfully and yet retain their clarity and separation. When playing the guitar, you get the feeling that it vibrates in a very deep way against the player's body.
It has an incredibly powerful sound and sounds very much like what we know from Torres.
It is supplied with the original case.
