Jose Ramirez 1951 - an absolute rarity - the first forerunner of the later Segovia Ramirez guitar from 1968 ... a great sounding guitar and a rare jewel from guitar history!
The Ramirez family is the most famous dynasty in the guitar world. The story began around 1870, when José Ramirez I completed his training with Francisco González and opened his own workshop. José Ramirez II (1885-1957) continued to build guitars following his father's example. During the time of Jose Ramirez III, the classical guitar was revolutionized in collaboration with the famous guitarist Andres Segovia and the modern classical guitar was created.
Many of the greatest guitarists, both in classical music and flamenco, have played Ramirez instruments.
This Jose Ramirez 1951 is an absolute rarity. It is the first guitar known to us that already has stylistic features of the famous 1a models from the 1960s. It has the same body shape, the inside bracing, the new headstock shape and the same back and side woods.
The guitar has a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 51 mm. The top is made of spruce, the back and sides of rosewood. It is in its original condition and was professionally restored some time ago.
It plays extremely well, with a low string action and a straight neck.
The sound is a real treat... an authentic vintage sound that can only be found on the best old guitars built by an experienced master.
This guitar has a powerful and appealing sound, with brilliant trebles and deep, round basses. The notes are rich in overtones, the timbre is deep and of great beauty.
This guitar, which is perhaps one of the most powerful of the Madrid instruments, also has a very elegant, lyrical voice with a very rich and dense tone quality in all registers. At the same time, it is very clear and balanced - very impressive, with a tremendous bite in the attack of every note. A very lovable instrument.
This Jose Ramirez 1951 comes with the original case.
