Jose Ortega 1894 - great handmade Spanish guitar in the style of Antonio de Torres - a piece of guitar history and a rare opportunity!
José Ortega was taught by his father Juan, together with Benito Ferrer, the founder of the Ferrer dynasty in Granada and luthier of Andrés Segovia's first concert guitar.
His guitars are made in the style of Torres guitars. His craftsmanship is the best of its time.
The famous Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca owned an Ortega guitar, which is kept in a museum in Granada.
This guitar is typical of Ortega's work. It has smaller sides, which can also be found on the Torres guitar SE 04. It has a beautiful spruce top, a cypress back and pearwood sides. The scale length is 575 mm and the nut width is 48 mm.
You can imagine the incredible sound of this guitar just by looking at it.
After 130 years, the woods are of course wonderfully mature and produce an incredibly beautiful vintage sound. The guitar is light as a feather and responds immediately to the player's touch. It has a great resonance that produces a beautiful, raw sound. This guitar produces the most beautiful timbres and is something special through and through.
This great guitar is comparable to the best of Torres.
The instrument is in a „restored original condition“ - this means that great care has been taken not to alter the substance.
