Jean Baptiste ‚Henry‘ Thouvenel ~1795 - 1805 - early romantic guitar with a very good sound - a great piece of guitar history!
Jean Baptiste ‚Henry‘ Thouvenel was an instrument maker from Mirecourt (France). He made violins and other stringed instruments, but eventually specialized in guitars. His work is of excellent quality and he had access to very high-quality woods.
This very beautiful guitar, dating from around 1795 - 1805, was expertly crafted using very high-quality materials.
The maple used for the back and sides is of outstanding quality. The guitar also has a very fine spruce top. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 48 mm.
The condition of the guitar is good, it has been professionally restored. It plays very easily with a straight neck and low action.
The guitar sounds classy and immediately impresses with a very complex tone. The basses are deep and the trebles are soft, lively and colorful with great expressiveness.
As soon as you play the guitar, you have the impression of merging with the instrument, because the sound is very touching, this guitar awakens deep emotions and you can literally feel how the notes jump out of the instrument.
In any case, a romantic guitar at a very high level, with which you can authentically revive the music of that time.
