J. Cortes ~ 1900 very special classical guitar from Valencia

J. Cortes was a small guitar manufacturer in Valencia at the turn of the century and up until the 1930s. Similar to Salvador Ibanez, Telesforo Julve or Andres Marin, Cortes mainly built guitars in the Torres style.

This guitar is very special because it has very deep sides and therefore produces a very pleasantly deep tone.
The top is made of spruce, the back and sides are made of walnut. The scale length is 632 mm and the nut width is 48 mm.

The guitar is built in the pre-Torres style of guitars from Cadiz, which had deeper ribs and a baroque body shape.
The guitar sounds very beautiful and immediately impresses with a very deep and voluminous tone. The basses are deep and growling and the trebles are soft, lively and colorful with great expressiveness.
Due to its age and light weight, the sound is woody, with a great deal of tonal modulation and dynamics. This guitar produces sweet tones that have a lot of charm.

The guitar is in good condition for its age. It is perfectly playable with a straight neck and a pleasantly low string action. The right action has been repaired and works perfectly.
