Ignacio Martorell Casasnova's impressive guitar, built around 1905 in the style of Torres.

Francisco Casasnovas was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1816. He began making guitars and bandurrias in 1845 and opened his workshop at Plaza de la Merced 1 in Palma de Mallorca.
He educated his sons, Bartolome Casasnovas i Fiol and Miguel Casasnovas de Fiol. And also his grandson Ignacio Martorell Casasnovas.
The construction of their guitars was of excellent workmanship and the wood was of very good quality. They distributed guitars to all Spanish cities, especially Santiago de Compostela, and also built flamenco guitars, especially for guitarists in Andalusia.
They also received many orders from outside Spain, especially from Argentina.
They exhibited a guitar at the exhibition in Barcelona in 1888 and won a prize. They also became famous for a mechanism for changing the tension of the strings.
Casasnovas guitars are still famous among players today and are part of many famous guitar collections.
Ignacio Martorell Casasnovas was still based at Calle San Miguel 77 (Palma de Mallorca) until 1927. He was the last active guitar maker from the Casasnovas dynasty.

This guitar is a perfect example of a Casanovas guitar. Beautifully built with excellent materials. It has a fine spruce top and beautiful cypress back and sides.
The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width 51 mm.

This guitar is light as a feather and perfectly crafted in every detail.
It is a great example of a high quality guitar - it is simply exquisite in its sound quality. Every note is rich in overtones, while maintaining an almost unbelievable level of separation and clarity between notes. Thanks to its ultra-lightweight construction, tone production is immediate, with a huge amount of tonal modulation and dynamics. The guitar has tremendous power and can easily compete with modern guitars.

The guitar plays very nicely, with a low action and a comfortable neck. It has been restored.
