Beautiful sounding classical guitar from Hermanos Vera.
Fernando & Cesar Vera were master guitar makers in Madrid in the 1950s and 1960s. Madrid was an important guitar-making center at the time, with small workshops producing wonderful instruments, and the Vera brothers were highly respected among Madrid luthiers. Their guitars are similar to those of Marcelino Lopez Nieto in terms of attention to detail and acoustic properties. They have a shorter scale length than the Ramirez guitars of the time.
The book „Guitarreros de Madrid. Artesanos de la prima y el bordón“. by Luis F. Leal Pinar, published in 2008, contains a 6-page biography with photos of the luthiers at their workbench:
The guitar has a spruce top with mahogany back and sides, ebony fingerboard and mahogany neck. The scale length is 650mm and the nut width is 52mm. The guitar has a traditional „Torres-style“ fan bracing.
The sound is excellent. The bass has a very special depth and the treble is very clear.
It has an absolutely charming classic sound with a very nice vintage timbre.
It is rare to find a guitar with mahogany back and sides. We have found that these guitars have a magical sound and are therefore a very good addition to any collection.
The condition is very good and everything is original. The guitar is in very good condition, with no cracks, breaks or repairs.
