Up for sale is a beautiful vintage Guild F-47 acoustic from 1967 in very good condition. This is a 16′ Small Jumbo guitar built by Guild in 1967 in Hoboken New Jersey. The F-47 is sometimes referred to as the F-47 Bluegrass model and replaced the F-40 Buegrass which had a strange pickguard.
Alongside Martin and Gibson, Guild is one of the major US guitar manufacturers. The company was founded in 1952 by Alfred Dronge and George Mann. By 1956, Guild was so successful that it had to move to larger premises in Hoboken, New Jersey. This is where some of today's highly sought-after Guild guitars were built.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Guild supplied many famous musicians and became increasingly popular.
From this golden age of Guild comes this magnificent F-47, which is the „grand old“ F-form and clearly stands out as a competitor to the venerable Martin 000-18.
It sounds resonant and powerful, with a full and deep tone. It has all the vintage warmth you could wish for and is a truly charming instrument. It has a comfortable string action (neck reset) and a neck that is easy to play.
The guitar is clean and shows only minor signs of use and wear.
It comes with the original case.
