Gibson Southern Jumbo 1965 - an iconic model prized for its warm vintage tone and exceptional playability, making it a favorite among musicians for decades.

The Gibson Southern Jumbo was introduced in the 1940s and is today one of the most sought-after acoustic guitars for studio and live performances. Legends such as Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie have made similar models famous and created timeless songs. With its distinctive look and sound, the Southern Jumbo remains a symbol of Americana and vintage guitar making.

This 1965 Southern Jumbo offers the rich, balanced sound that Gibson is known for. The combination of a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides delivers deep bass, clear mids and sparkling highs.

The playability is excellent:

  • String action at the 12th fret: 2.2 mm (low E-string) and 1.6 mm (high E-string) - perfect for comfortable playing without unwanted buzzing.
  • Nut width: 43 mm, ideal for strumming and fingerstyle techniques. This is one of the last models before Gibson switched to the very narrow necks in the 60s.
  • Bone bridge inlay: The bridge inlay has been professionally replaced by a bone part, which gives the guitar more clarity and power.

The mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard offers a smooth transition between the frets and an authentic playing feel. The original plastic inlays and the classic sunburst finish emphasize the timeless appearance of the guitar.

The guitar is in good vintage condition, with 3 professionally carried out repairs to the top and only minimal signs of use. All components (apart from the bridge inlay) are original. It comes with a newer guitar case, which is also in good condition.

This Gibson Southern Jumbo 1965 is the perfect choice for collectors and musicians looking for an authentic vintage sound while appreciating originality and craftsmanship.
