Gibson J-45 1946 - this guitar has a great sunburst finish and sounds like a cannon!
In the period after the Second World War, Gibson produced guitars to a very high standard. Handmade with the best materials and in small quantities - these guitars are highly sought after in specialist and collector circles, and rightly so.
This Gibson J-45 has a mahogany top and mahogany back, sides and neck.
The finish on this model is a dark sunburst, which was the most famous Gibson finish at the time. It has the simple inlays and decorations typical of this model.
This Gibson J-45 1946 sounds great - there really is nothing quite like that vintage Gibson tone, and this model is a prime example of what all the buzz is about. Strong, woody basses and crisp, cutting highs combine with fat, raw mids to create the quintessential Gibson sound.
The guitar is lightweight and has this springy response. The woods resonate incredibly well and give this beautiful guitar a very charming woody sound.
This guitar is a player and has been professionally restored. It has some old crack repairs and the sides have some repairs and a repaint - otherwise the overall finish is original. The machine heads have been replaced in vintage style.
The neck has been readjusted and the string action is pleasantly low. It plays incredibly well and is a lot of fun to play!
The serial number is faded, as is the case with many of these old Gibsons. According to the previous owner and the specifications of the guitar, it is from 1946.
It comes with a newer Gibson case.
