Gibson ES-150 1941 similar to Charlie Christian's guitar - a cool guitar with a lot of vintage mojo!

In the early days of the big band era, guitarists played chords that were barely audible in the rhythm section. This guitar changed that overnight.
Gibson's groundbreaking ES-150 („Electric Spanish“) model was the first 6-string guitar from Gibson to be equipped with a magnetic pickup and was the world's first successful electric guitar.
The ES-150 was played by jazz guitarist Charlie Christian, who almost single-handedly invented the modern solo jazz guitar. Since then, players have referred to the 150 as the „Charlie Christian model“. With its massive bar magnet, the ES-150 pickup captivated an entire generation of jazz guitarists: Barney Kessel, Jimmy Raney and many others.

Hand-carved solid spruce top with sunburst finish, solid grained maple back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, mother-of-pearl logo and fingerboard inlays, bound body.
Original adjustable rosewood bridge, original Grover machine heads with oval keys, original nickel trapeze tailpiece, original Charlie Cristian single coil pickup (pre-P-90 pickup), with original Bakelite knobs.

The guitar is in excellent condition for its age, with no cracks or repairs. The serial number is faded, as is often the case with these guitars that are over 80 years old. We were able to date it to 1941, according to the specifications and information from the previous owner.
It comes with a vintage case, but not original. The machine heads are newer. The guitar is ready to play immediately and has a pleasantly low string action.
