Cool LG-2 style Gibson guitar - Gibson CF-100E 1951 - Player guitar, with authentic vintage sound
The Gibson CF-100E was introduced in 1951 and was the electric version of the all-acoustic CF-100, which had been launched just one year earlier. This remarkable model was ahead of its time - as the first Gibson flattop guitar with an integrated pickup and an elegant Florentine cutaway.
Made from solid tonewoods, the CF-100E has a Sitka spruce top, bound mahogany back and sides and a bound rosewood fingerboard. In contrast to later electro-acoustic Gibson models such as the J-160E (which is equipped with a laminated construction and ladder bracing), this model has a sophisticated X bracing, which ensures outstanding resonance and warmth.
This 1951 example is a great player's instrument with a characterful, naturally aged appearance. Acoustically, it offers a full, assertive sound with excellent projection, while the built-in pickup delivers warm, jazzy tones. Over the years, the electronic components have been cared for and maintained - the potentiometers have been replaced, among other things. The neck has an extremely comfortable profile, similar to that of an early Les Paul Goldtop - perfect for players who appreciate the classic Gibson neck.
These guitars are extremely rare - only 1,257 were made between 1951 and 1959. This example has been refinished and minor repairs have been carried out, making it an ideal „players grade“ instrument. With a low string action, it plays wonderfully easily and smoothly.
A fascinating vintage instrument with historical significance and first-class playability - perfect for musicians looking for a unique Gibson sound!
