Fantastic guitar by Gerundino Fernandez from 1995 - this guitar is a real masterpiece with the genuine Gerundino flamenco sound!

Mariano Mangas (a famous flamenco guitarist in Spain) was the owner of this guitar. There are several videos of him playing this Gerundino flamenco guitar on Youtube!

Gerundino Fernandez (1931-2006) is considered by many to be one of the best flamenco guitar makers of the second half of the twentieth century, along with Arcangel Fernandez, Francisco Barba and Manuel Reyes. His guitars have been played by many top players, notably Paco Pena, Paco del Gastor, Tomatito, Juan Martin and even Eric Clapton.

This cedar blanca has a quick response and a big, woody, traditional flamenco sound. More specifically, the tone is clear and focused with a slightly dark texture - „Andalusian“ in character - not surprising given that Gerundino himself lived and built in the city of Almeria: birthplace and home of Antonio de Torres and the modern Spanish guitar.

This instrument has a few very professionally repaired cracks - otherwise the guitar is in very good condition.
It plays great - the extremely light construction gives it a very explosive attack, it has a big, raw sound. Very similar to the famous sound of Paco Pena, who also played a cedar wood gerundino.
The back and sides are made of cypress and the top is made of cedar. It has a scale length of 660 mm and a nut width of 54 mm.

All in all, a wonderful concert guitar from a good era for the serious flamenco player and collector.
