Exceptional and amazing sounding Viennese style guitar by Georg Haid - this 1926 built guitar is a large volume and powerful sounding example of a fine handcrafted guitar.

Georg Haid was born on January 20, 1864. He came to Linz at the age of 14 to study with Eduard Heidegger. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked for Johann Hornsteiner in Passau. He then moved to Munich to work for Georg Tiefenbrunner.
In 1884-87, he was called up for military service and finally came to Vienna, where he initially worked in Karl Kiendl's workshop. He later married his daughter and opened his own workshop in Vienna IX in 1894. In 1922, he moved into his own house in Alserstraße (Vienna IX).

Georg Haid built zithers and guitars. His craftsmanship is exceptional. During his time as an apprentice and journeyman, he was able to gain insights into the work of various great masters.
His construction style is based on the great masters of Viennese guitar making.

Georg Haid died on 16.6.1951 in Vienna. His workshop in Alserstraße in Vienna was continued for many years and still exists today as the Haid Guitar Salon.

The guitar has a top made of German spruce, back and sides made of maple and a fingerboard made of dark ebony. The scale length is 640 mm and the width at the nut is 52 mm. The original shellac finish is in excellent condition with minor signs of use. The guitar is equipped with an adjustable neck (adjustment key included).
It comes with its original but worn case.

The sound is powerful and mighty - it has a large and deep body and this creates a sublime, almost majestic sound.
The sound is beautiful, masterful with concert quality. It has a lot of clarity, but at the same time an extraordinary tonal flexibility. It offers the magic that only an old, masterfully built guitar can produce.
The guitar offers a wide range of beautiful timbres in all registers.
