Epiphone FT-120 Excellente 1966 - a true Holy Grail acoustic guitar for players and collectors
The Epiphone FT-120 Excellente was the most expensive guitar produced by Gibson when it came onto the market in the 1960s. It was designed as an ornate Gibson/Epiphone version of the famous pre-war Martin D-28 with herringbone inlays.
This guitar is absolutely stunning and very rare - only 139 were produced between 1963 and 1969.
Spruce top, rosewood back and sides, bound ebony fingerboard with cloud inlays and inlaid headstock. This guitar is completely original and in excellent vintage condition, without any repairs. It comes with the original case (with Gibson logo). The guitar comes from the collection of Helmut Grahl, who was a well-known musician, textbook author and guitar collector/expert.
What can we say about the sound? ... this really is a Holy Grail guitar in every respect. We have never heard anything like it. Full, open, very proud ... simply incredibly good sounding. This guitar has great dynamics, projection and sustain.
This rare and historically significant guitar is stunning in every way, and if you want a vintage flat-top guitar that none of your friends have - then this is the guitar to buy.
