It is a vihuela in E. The basis for the replica was an instrument by Luis Milan (1535/ 36).

Dieter Hense is considered one of the best guitar makers in Germany. He is one of the traditional builders of concert guitars and reproductions of historical guitars - his instruments are extremely popular with professional and amateur musicians worldwide.
