Casa Arcangel Fernandez 1970s - An exceptional classical guitar from one of Madrid's most legendary workshops, with a deep and expressive sound.

Arcangel Fernandez is widely regarded as one of the greatest guitar makers in history. Born in 1932, he had originally trained as a carpenter before discovering his passion for guitar making. In 1954, he had the rare opportunity to study under the legendary Marcelo Barbero, who was considered the best guitar maker in Madrid at the time and had worked with Santos Hernández. Both Barbero and Fernández became decisive figures in the further development of the modern flamenco and classical guitar and set new standards in craftsmanship and sound.

Fernández later founded a workshop with Manuel Rodríguez, producing some of the finest guitars of their time. In addition to their own master instruments, they also oversaw the production of guitars made by other highly skilled luthiers, ensuring that every instrument bearing their name met the highest quality standards. In 1959, Marcelo Barbero's son joined the workshop and they worked together for over four decades, further cementing their legacy in Spanish guitar making.

This particular guitar, labeled „Casa Arcangel Fernandez“, was built in this renowned workshop to Arcangel's exact specifications. It features a beautifully aged cedar top, combined with rich rosewood for the back and sides. These premium tonewoods contribute to the guitar's remarkable sound, which is both powerful and refined. With a scale length of 655 mm and a nut width of 53 mm, the guitar offers a comfortable and natural playing feel that allows for effortless expressiveness.

The sound of this instrument is fascinating, with a dark, resonant quality that immediately captivates the player. The basses are deep, round and precise, offering a foundation of richness and warmth. The trebles sound with crystal clarity and offer an exquisite palette of colors and timbres. The guitar responds with sensitivity to the slightest touch, producing a lyrical and emotional sound that can evoke the deepest feelings. Despite its depth and complexity, the instrument remains superbly balanced, so that every note shines with exceptional definition.

Lightly built and masterfully crafted, this guitar embodies the spirit of the best Madrid guitar-making traditions. It is in excellent original condition, showing only minor signs of use that add to its character and charm. The guitar has been well cared for over the years, retaining both its structural integrity and its impressive voice.

It comes with its original guitar case, which ensures both protection and authenticity.

A rare and exceptional instrument - this Casa Arcangel Fernandez guitar is a true piece of Spanish guitar making history, offering a captivating playing experience and a sound that resonates in the heart and soul.
